This bull has all the classic Limousin length, and is wide and flat across his topline. He's homozygous for the F94L myostatin gene, which we feel strongly is what makes a Limousin, a Limousin. It is responsible for the muscle of the breed, and, unfortunately, has been bred out of a lot of them. We DNA test all our bull prospects for the presence of the myostatin gene, because we believe if someone is looking at Limousin, they expect it to add muscle to their crop. They need the F94L gene to do it well. This bull's pedigree is full of old, proven genetics. We have been AI'ing cows to his sire, Signature (a Nobel Prize son) for a few years now, and have been really pleased with the consistent performance of his calves. 100X, a granddaughter of JCL Lodestar 27L, just calved at 14 years old. As you can probably guess, she's been a very consistent producer for us. Because of the old blood on both sides of his pedigree, this prospect doesn't touch the numbers we see highlighted in the catalogs these days, and some breeders would have culled him for this alone. We stand behind his mother for what she's produced (we have four of her daughters in the herd, as well), and have been really pleased with the paternal half brother, KAKE Jericho 5J, we're using on our own cows.
