Thank you for your patience as we've been working to update this section with our 2025 selection.
Before you scroll, there are a few things you should know. First, you'll notice the F94L myostatin DNA test results for each of the yearlings. We started testing all our bulls several years ago for the F94L myostatin gene, which is unique to the Limousin breed. We feel it's the single most important trait that makes a Limousin, a Limousin. It's what gives them the muscle they're known for, but, unlike other "double muscle" genes, it does not have a negative impact on tenderness or calving ease. Some breeders might diminish its importance, but it's a hill we're willing to die on.
Second, these bulls were raised "dam only" (no creep feed prior to weaning) this year. We're well aware this is atypical of developing bulls, but when they grow on their own merit, the cream rises. We know what it's like to spend a lot of money on a bull who is sale fit, and watch him fall apart when he gets into the real world. To add insult to injury, their calves usually follow suit (As TK would say, "You plant corn, you get corn."). Come see them, you'll find their nutrition isn't lacking.
Third, we're missing a Reference Bull page. We'll get one built in the very near future, but for now, you'll see names like Unmatched, Fiat, Flint, Deacon, Griffin, and Bank Draft a lot as you read about these bulls. These are breed-leading calving ease bulls, and we get more requests for heifer bulls than anything else. If that's what you're after, watch for those names. Unmatched, in particular, significantly changed our herd for the better, and we have a lot of confidence in any of his descendants we offer.
There's a story to tell behind each of these bulls, and we love to talk about everything that's gone into developing them, one generation at a time.
